Ebony Burnett is a wife, a Guilford County Schools mom, and a current parent leader at Gibsonville Elementary. She is currently the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at shift_ed, where she works with community organizations to align on shared goals for students and improve their outcomes.
Ebony is a former teacher, YMCA camp director, and after-school director. She is a passionate advocate for students, families, teachers, and classified staff. A product of Guilford County Schools herself, Ebony was raised in part by her aunt, a dedicated GCS teacher, who helped shape her commitment to education and service. Ebony is a social worker by training and a proud graduate of North Carolina A&T State University. AGGIE PRIDE!
Ebony believes that student success is defined by each student’s unique dreams and goals, and she has dedicated her life to helping them get there. From leading after-school programs while in college to serving as a YMCA branch youth director and later as a youth-serving organizational leader, Ebony has dedicated her career to creating opportunities for young people.
Her passion for students and school personnel has led her to champion universal school meals, fight for more school nurses, speak up for teacher pay, and support the school bond to invest in safer, stronger learning environments. In her current role as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at a local non-profit in Greensboro, NC. Ebony leads collaborative efforts with over 30 community partners, including key district leadership, to align our community resources to meet the diverse needs of Guilford County students.
Her work will continue in her community, where she will bring people together, listen deeply, and act boldly. Ebony will continue to show up, build trust, and push for thoughtful, student-centered solutions that reflect the voices of families, educators, and young people. Her leadership is collaborative, her actions are meaningful, and her focus will always be on student success.
